Spring hardware products are divided into the following types.

One type is a material that does not need to be quenched, and only needs to be annealed after the spring is formed. Such materials are mainly reinforced steel wires, including carbon steel wires, piano wires, stainless steel wires for springs, and various oil-quenched and tempered steel wires.

The second type is the material that only needs aging treatment after the spring is formed, such as beryllium bronze wire and alloy for spring elements.

The third type is materials that must be quenched and tempered. This category is mainly annealed and hot-rolled materials, such as hot-rolled spring steel wire, silicon-manganese spring steel wire, chromium-vanadium spring steel wire, chromium-silicon spring steel wire and so on.

With the development of the metallurgical industry and the continuous improvement of spring performance requirements, in order to reduce equipment investment, reduce production costs, shorten production cycles, and improve product quality and economic benefits, the design and manufacturing should be selected and only need to undergo stress relief annealing after forming. Material to make the spring, that is, one type. Materials that need to be quenched and tempered after winding forming, that is, the third type should not be used as much as possible. The second type, which requires aging treatment (hardening and tempering treatment) after forming, is more used for springs with special requirements, such as corrosion resistance, weak magnetic, and electrical conductivity.
